Backing up and restoring RapIDutilities import / export map files consists of copying and pasting the (*.imp / *.exp / *.ppi, / *.dtm) map files into the Default Map Location folder. By default RapIDutilities will store map files in a hidden directory called ProgramData. The full path is


 C:\ProgramData\Vision Database Systems\RapIDutilities\Maps

Backup the RapIDutilities map files

  1. Open File Explorer (Right-click Start > File Explorer)
  2. Browse to the Default Map Location
    NOTE: The ProgramData folder is hidden, therefore you must show hidden files, or copy/paste the location into the File Explorer address bar
  3. Copy all (*.imp / *.exp / *.ppi, / *.dtm) files to a backup folder on a thumbdrive or network share
  4. Make note of each map's Input File and Output File



Restore the RapIDutilities map files

  1. Open File Explorer (Right-click Start > File Explorer)
  2. Browse to the Default Map Location
    NOTE: The ProgramData folder is hidden, therefore you must show hidden files, or copy/paste the location into the File Explorer address bar
  3. Copy all (*.imp / *.exp / *.ppi, / *.dtm) files from the backup location to the Default Map Location folder
  4. Re-create files and folders specified in each map's Output File or Import File for the maps to run correctly


Create desktop shortcuts for specific maps

Desktop shortcuts can run specific RapIDutilities import or export maps. 


  1. Open RapIDutilities
  2. Select the import or export map
  3. Click the Command Line Operator button from the ribbon menu
  4. Click File > Save as
  5. Browse to a location such as C:\Scripts or C:\Work
    1. Before saving, change the Save as type to All Files (*.*)
    2. Enter a name with the .bat file extension
      example: DailyImport.bat


  6. Click Save
  7. Browse to the file created in step 6
  8. Right-click it and drag and drop on the desktop



  9. Choose Create shortcut here
  10. The shortcut's icon and name can be customized by Right-clicking > Properties
